Carole Pelchat Celebrated

Carol Pelchat Celebrated by LWVGH

October 26, 2017

Since the inception of our League, Carole Pelchat has been a constant presence. Under her leadership, our organization has been steadily growing from eight to nearly forty members.

As the size of our organization grew, so has our influence. Through Carole’s leadership, we have become well-known in the community for the work we do including (but not limited to) voter registration in area high schools, candidates forums, advocacy work, and fundraising for student scholarships. Our organization has also become an integral part of the Naturalization Ceremonies in Lowell, MA where we have successfully registered thousands of new citizens since 2015. We were also one of the first Leagues to welcome men into our membership one of whom, Joel Gagnon, has become our president.

LWVGH members gathered at Mr. Mike's Restaurant in Haverhill to bid a final good-bye to our friend, Carole Pelchat, as she embarks on a new life in North Carolina.

We will definitely continue to forge ahead in the coming days and years, growing our organization and its influence in the community and the state. But it will not be the same without our fearless, passionate leader.

We all hope that her new life will be fulfilling and that she will long enjoy the company and love of her family. But she will never be forgotten in her chosen hometown of Haverhill, MA where she leaves behind not only LWVGH but also people who love her and are proud to call her our friend.
